I have a 93 SSE, and when it becomes dusk the headlights come on NO PROBLEM. Except I believe when I have the sentry light swith on the headlight switch set to OFF these lights should NOT come on until I put vehicle in gear. Please help me. I have a remote car starter installed and find it a real pain in the WAZOO when all the lights come on when she starts, AND NO it was happening BEFORE the starter was installed so it ain't that. I can turn the sentry switch on and then off and it shuts the lights off except for park lights which are part of remote starter set up.

Do I ned to replace the headlight switch in order for the headlights to remain off or is it something else I need to get switched. I thought I read somewhere in here that it was indeed a faulty switch but need reassurance I guess LOL.

Your car is fine. The headlight twilight sentinel dosn't look at your gear. Looks only at the ignition being turned to ACC or Start. If you car is running, and it'* dark outside, the lights WILL be on unless you turn the sentinel off.....now if you have it off, and they still come on, light a candle and leave it on the dashboard next to the sensor, or replace the switch!

Salvage yard is the best bet for the switch.

Your twilight sentinel switch only controls how long the head lights stay on after you pull the key and walk away. I'm not possitive, but max setting is like three minutes, off or min. setting, of course, is zero.

If you turn it to off, all it will do is shut the lights off when you shut off the car. This had nothing to do with the daytime running lights (DRL) or your dark sensor for the lights.

As far as I see your light switch is functioning fine. If it is dark, your lights are going to come on when you start the car. This is a function of the lighting circuit, it does not matter if you use the key or a remote starter.

If you do not want the lights to come on until you "turn them on" this will take some modifications of the whole lighting circuit. You will need a full set of schematics from a service manual to figure this one out

Jay, your car may be different. On the older ones, if you turn the twilight sentinel switch all the way clockwise, it disables this feature. If disabled, you have to turn your headlights on manually.

Well, I thank u all for your thoughts, and funny ideas (Candle on dashboard ) OK if I need to replace switch in order for it to stay off WHO HAS ONE, they don't need. I hear they are REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLlly expensive.LOL
I'l check out a repo from the junk yard and see what happens.

Maybe one of the pros here can answer this......some 89'* I've seen have the "low beam" lights on the inside lights closer to the grill, while mine are the outer low beams? (high beams inside) is that just a matter of swapping the plugs? (they are different) I was going to just simply move them over, but not possible without actually cutting the plug mounts off and swapping them? Is that the only way to do it?

I'm still not clear. Are the lights coming on when you rotate the twilight sentinel switch all the way to off (it should click off)?

Is your car Canadian, and do you have the daytime driving lamps?

Another thing you might want to consider also is the way the housing is angled to the light.. if you wired the inner light as low beam... the way the light would reflect would make it seem like you're driving around with high beams on... just my 2 cents...

Don't switch these lights. Ok, I'm in Laser/Optic tech mode. The prescription in the reflector assemblies is different for low and high beam. Not just the bulb difference. That'* like putting on your reading glasses to drive, or using binoculars to read.
