AC Delco PF... er, PF47, I think? Whatever the "recommended" AC Delco part # is, not the oversized one. Pros: cheap, readily available. Cons: None that I can think of -- I think mine'* leaking around the gasket a little bit, but that'* probably my fault

I filler up with 5 Quarts of Exxon 10W-30 Dino Motor Oil and a Walmart ST3980 Oil Filter. When the seasons change, I change the oil/filter(although I generally do not let it go beyond 5,000 miles). The ST3980 is the AC Delco PF-52 equivalent(ie. the oversized one). The pros are that it'* cheap and I do it myself so I insure that the filter is on correctly(not too tight that I have to wrench it off) and I don't have the drain bolt cross threaded by some gorilla. The bigger filter gives some added protection.
The cons - only one that I can think of. You can't(or shouldn't) use the larger(PF-52) filter on the newer generation H-Bodies because it may sit below the cross member making it vulnerable to damage if the car goes over some serious bumps in the road(which could lead to engine failure).
Also, I've heard the stories about how bad Fram filters are for your car. Fram sells a bazillion filters every year, so how come there aren't a bazillion law suits claiming engine failure or filter failure. If you change your oil and filter every three or four months(your milage will vary) you won't lose any sleep worrying about your 3800.

hi
M1 10w-30, Baldwin, AC Delco PF52, and FleetGuard.
Oil chnage interval is about 6000m.
Will: why not do a uoa, as you might be able to extend drain intervals 2-3000 miles with a filter change in between ?
