code 16: System voltage high or low

code 21: Throttle position(TPS)voltage high

code 43: Electronic spark control circiut or Knock sensor problem

58 Security System (Fuel Enable Circuit)

68 Cruise System Problem

sounds to me like you have alota problems there
all i know is code 21 you need to replace your tps (throttle position sensor)
i just had that code too about 2 weeks ago.
hope this helps

Do NOT change anything on the car without resolving your battery/alternator problem FIRST. It may be causing all the other faults. Get it diagnosed, and if either is bad (battery or alternator), and either is over 2 years old, replace BOTH. They can kill each other if one is in a weakened state.

The code 58 is a known bug in the 92 PCM. Ignore it, it means nothing, and doesn't hurt you, nor will it set a light.

Please put your year and trim level "92 SSEi" in your signature for future posting.

After the voltage problem is fixed, you need to address your plugs. They're fouled by now due to low spark voltage. If you still have a misfire at that point and you don't know how old your plug wires are, I suggest changing them as a next step. Belden premium Blue's are popular here for their performance and reliablility. NAPA has them.

After all that, clear your codes by disconnecting your battery negative cable for 15-20 minutes. Drive the car, and report back any codes you still have by using the procedure in Techinfo, Tech Know-How (link at the top of the page).

i agreee 100 percent with Will every sensor has a Reference voltage if thats low it tells the ECU that those sensors are faulity

if your battery and alternator are good
check your battery connections for corrison

Also agree.... The Cars Computer wants to see or have better than 11v at any given time... Anything less and the car will go to crapp...

If you are getting the code 16, I'd have to say that you are droping to 9v... The engine management system will not function properly, or almost not function at all...

Check with a Voltmeter what charge the battery has, and what voltage the alternator is putting out...

If the Charging system is putting out less than 12v( on a 92 high 13v to 14.5 would be optimum voltage ) Then things start to get hairy...

Get the charging problem resolved first

Good Luck

Hi again!

Iīve checked the battery and alternator, seems ok.
Plugs changed and wires inspected.

The car is missing so much that it isnīt possible to drive it.

I'd have the charging system professionally load-tested before going any further. Your list of codes supports this.

Was just out and started the car.
Battery reads 12.3 w/o engine running 14,7 w engine running.
Doesnīt seem to misfire today, confusing...
But it has an idle at about 2500 rpm.

I dissconected the battery to clear the codes and will see later what codes Iīll be getting now.

The ECU is possibly bad, maybe.

Mike 72 08-21-2005 01:55 PM

What is the ECU and where is it located?

/Mikael
