97 SE rough idle after long drive
Latelly my 97 SE has been running extremelly rough after a long trip or it has been running for a while, it also has been taking longer and longer to start up. It will run great on short trips, or in the morning when its cold, but after that it runs like **** and barelly accellerates under a load. If I let it sit after a long trip and cool off it will run great, but if I jump back in it and start it up less then 30 minutes of it sitting it will act up or not start at all. Fuel pump has been replaced twice now, so have plugs, wires, and coils. I also noticed it runs out of gas when it still have 4 gallons left in the car. It also stalls or runs extremelly rough if I slam on the brakes. I have purchased a new crankshaft sensor today and am planning on replacing that this weekend. I know I have a bad EGR that needs replaced too but I'm still lost as to why its doing this. Any suggestions?

I would test the fuel pressure and fix the known bad parts.
If you don't fix things you know are bad, how can you tell if they aren't the cause of the latest problem.

I agree, check that fuel pressure...
Just out of curiousity what kind of fuel pump did you use the last time it was replaced?

Re: Rough idle after long drive
I solved the problem of my rough idle. I took the car to AutoZone and had it scanned. The ECM indicated that my #6 cylinder was missfiring. I found out that I had again a bad coil. So $39 later she'* running good again. Still taking a while to start on occasion but its running smoothly now and accellorates great.

Re: Fuel pressure
Didn't have time yesterday to have the fuel pressure checked out. Priced out a fuel pressure regulator for $79. But have to wait till next week to get it if thats the problem. I'll have it checked out when I get a chance and let yall know.
