TPS?

TPS?
1993 SSE. I replaced the TPS sensor in Sept last year for "revving" of the engine and it fixed the problem Now since May my RPM drops and my engine stops and the engine light come on, but I can immediately restart it no problem. Is this the TPS again??? Nothing else really happens, just that sometimes the engine light will come on then go off, but the car does not act "funny" at all, except every once in a while when I'm slowing to a stop the RPM drop and engine stops. But not all the time. Any thought are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

BTW, bolding doesn't work on topic titles.
From the sound of your problem... does this only seem to happen on corners and stops when you are around 1/4 of a tank?

nope, it doesn't matter how much gas I have. I thought at first it was so I filled the tank and it did it still. Its not everytime I slow down or stop, just sometimes. Thanks!

Also its not specific to turning or anything, just when deceling or like letting off the gas pedal and "crusing" slowly until you hit the brake, its stalled a couple times when I did that. But like I said it doesn't do it all the time, no time in specific?!?! I think I'm just going to get another TPS sensor just because RAREY it will rev up on its own still like it did before we changed it when it was bad last time. And that time we only knew it was that fot sure was because we had it put on the machine to verify it.

Sounds like you have the same problem that I'm experiencing.
You said that your "Check engine light" is coming on then turning off ?
If so read the trouble codes and post them or have them read by a mechanic or shop and report back.
Just a shot in the dark as to your problem but my guess is that it is something related to the crank sensor.
My 92 just started doing the same thing recently and I'm just about to replace the crank sensor, I'm hoping this will fix the problem.
Don't replace any parts without having the trouble codes read and diagnosing the problem properly, otherwise your just guessing.
Good luck,
Dutch

Right..if you let us diagnose it a little...we can probably save you money on parts.
TPS are not very common unless you find a flat spot.
When was your last tune up? Plugs/Wires/fuel filter etc. Have you checked fuel pressure? And when was the last time you had a TB cleaning?

It had a tune up in May, we do regular matinence on it. My fiance did a TB cleaning when he put the fiurst TPS sensor on in Nov last year he also just pulled it apart in May when he did the tune up and intake gaskets and cleaned it.He also changed the O2 sensor closet to the manifold. Fuel pressure is good. He bought the TPS and is going to change it today,I will keep you posted as to how it goes. Thanks for everyone help so far, continue to post your ideas and opinions for me so I can be ahead of the game if its not fixed after this.*** What makes you think its the crank sensor? Thanks guys I really appreciate your help!
P.*. Its a good thing that TPS sensors have warranties... It hasn't been a yaer since we put the last one on...so its not costing anything this time!
