MAF/Mass Airflow Sensor

I got a MAF sensor code (don't know whitch one) on my mom's 98 SSEi. WE replaced i and the code is still coming on and the car wants to stall when code. Any ideas?

Are your spark plug wires well away from the MAF wires? Sometimes the high voltage spark plug wires cause interference with the MAF wires.

When you change the MAF sensor you should remove the negative battery connection for about a half hour. This will reset the computer, typically needed when replacing a bad MAF.

I reset the codes by unplugging the batt. and it came back on. The wires are stock and not too close. I have not changed anything since this became a problem. We also drove on it like this for a long time. could it be the computer. It is still wanting to stall, so I think it wouldn't but who knows.

Or the new sensor is bad too...

check techinfo..I think there's a test you can do on the maf..

You may be on to something with the PCM being bad. Check the MAF as suggested, and also trace the wires to make sure they're in good shape. A bad electrical connection could be the culprit. However, if those things don't fix you up, look into a junkyard PCM. I believe you'll need a dealer to perform a CASE learn for you, but it'll be worth it to get up and running normally.
