Transmission problems
I have had this problem for a while but just recently it became more frequent, after starting my car and shifting to D it dose not make it in to gear and when it dose it will make a thuning sound I can actually feel it shake. For me to keep this from happening I have to shift it to N and let it sit there for a second but some times It dosenot work.
Dose any one know how to fix this?

So the thudding happens when you put it in drive? That sounds like its trying to decide weather to be in neutral or drive and shifting back and forth between the two real fast. I'm thinking maybe you're linkage is off. Tey putting it in 3 or D and see what happens. Another thing could be too much fluid pressure.

I always look for the cheap stuff first. Is the fluid level up in the trans? Sometimes the clunking can be caused by a bad mount, you might want to have a look there. If neither of those is the problem, you might take it to a reputable trans shop for a test drive to see what they say.

The fluid is fine I guess it will end up not doing any work on it as long as the car will last 4-6 more months till i can buy the GP.

this might be a crazy, left field idea, but maybe spending 10 minutes to try out the two things that have been sugested here would be better than
that'* just me though. and it also means that when you get ready to sell this car, and move on to the gp, the next person won't be out cold. there'* a fair chance that this is something that can be fixed easily. and if you fix it now, you save lots of repair costs down the road.
or, you might find out that it'* far more serious. which would also be a good thing. knowing that you're driving on a bad tranny is far better than driving around, not caring, and having a bad tranny.
just my .02... take it for what you will.

i got a 93 bonnie with the same problem i shift into drive and it won't engage. I've noticed that it happens in the cold but when its warm out or the car reaches operating temp it shifts into 1st with no problem
