Default check engine light

Exhaust smells like firecrackers loss of power and spudders some. Just started. I replaced spark plugs, they were pretty worn out as I got this car from my dad and not sure what maintenance was performed. Any thoughts are appreciated.

You are smelling sulfur in the exhaust. Which is an indication of rich fuel. Very rich.

Check this video out and see if it applies to you.

And you are also going to need to get those codes scanned. But, because you have a 95, not all scanners work on it. I think you will need at least the Actron 9145 with OBD 1.5 cable.

You might want to check the fuel pressure regulator. If the internal diaphragm fails it will dump fuel into the intake manifold. Just have to take the vacuum hose off the FPR and smell for gasoline. If you smell gas in the FPR vacuum hose you need to replace the FPR. Might not be your problem, but very easy to check and cross off the list.

If the FPR is okay Mike is right in saying you need to scan for diagnostic trouble codes.

Thanks Mike. I checked the FPR and its clear. Did find that I have a weak ignition coil.
