Low Coolent? nope...
well the DIC is yelling low coolent at me now and then, but the coolent level is fine, in the jug and the rad... SO, i'm assuming its a bad sensor. sound right? where is this sensor at and has anyone else replaced it?
|
Sensor is located on the right side of the radiator (passenger side) about halfway down the plastic endcap. You'll see the wires going to it.
They tend to get a little goopy and stop working properly. |
1. Take it out and clean it.
2. Replace it. 3. Disconnect and forget. Any of these three options will prevent the light (well, ONE of the three will). |
One will...it will also not inform you of the issue when your coolant system suffers a problem and you need to know asap.
Fixing properly is always recommended. Which explains why Bill put those as 1 and 2 on the list. ;) |
Gotta throw in my .02 cents here.
I'm damn glad the coolant sensor was working on my car. Its the reason I discovered my water pump was going. Was on the way home from work and on the phone with Boosty (of course) when the dic flashed low coolant. When I got home, low and behold I had a slight leak which lead to the eventual finding of the pump failure. |
this is exactly the reason i want to look into it. i've ignored these things in the past but i hate doing it. this car is nice enough to chase these things down.
ok, on the right side half way down. cool. i'll try cleaning first :) its cheaper! |
