Loud air sucking noise from air cleaner box and sensor ???

Hey guys, got another question, After the Bonnie has been sitting for a while and you go to start it, It is sucking in so much air......I know on cold start ups you require a little more gas and air.....But it’s so loud for the first minute or two. Then it warms up and its fine....I have never heard any other series 2 sound like that on a cold start......I'm afraid to stick my hand near that air box when it sounds like that!!! :D I do need to mention that it has an idle around 1200 rpms when it’s nice and warm.....It doesn't always act this way....It has once or twice had a rough idle at a stoplight, then goes away when given gas.

When I put this engine in the Bonnie, engine had around 56,000 miles on it....It came out of a same year Buick.....Buick got totaled.....engine sat for 3-4 years....What sensors do you think I need to replace.....I feel as if it needs a good tune-up.....The only ses codes I have ever got was something to do with 1.the cam sensor, took it out and cleaned it, never got the code again...2.egr pintle stuck (once appeared and never showed up again)...3. and something to do with catalyst system below threshold (I don't have a clue what that is, but it is turning the ses light on more often.......I know this is a lot of info....Thanks for the help!!! Ryan

perfectly normal.

your idle air controller (IAC) is open, causing the hollow sucking sound

does it sound like this?

I saw this post earlier this morning, and was really shocked that someone was actually concerned about the sucking sound on there CAI. Guys pay good money to duplicate that sound.LOL

Perfectly normal. Think of it as being like a choke.

Yeah mine does the same thing occasionally. I never would have guessed it was the IAC. I always just assumed I had to hunt down a bad vacuum line or something.

Yep, It sounds just like that.....Just wondering!!! Thanks a bunch Ryan
