I pulled up the seat and carpet looking for the airbag sensor to fix my airbag issue only to find the insulation soaked.

Do our cars have a leaking problem with the vent if it is left open in the rain while sitting? I have this problem in my 88 Cutlass.

What'* the best way to dry out the carpet insulation?

The "best" way to dry out the carpeting and backing is to pull it out of the car, and let it air dry.

Okay, besides that what can be done?

Other than that, it will be a hit & miss propostion - trying different things that may help. Could try getting up as much water as possible with a shop vac, or attachment from a carpet cleaner. Raise the carpeting as much as possible to get to the wet pad, and then circulate the air with a fan, or hair dryer.

Okay, I pulled the carper padding and insulation out. The front insulation is soaked... And the rear padding looks moldy. Is it worth drying out or should I just replace it with aftermarket?
