What do you guys think about headlight strobes? I was in orlando FL in last July and started talking with this guy who has a 98 GP GTX and is involved with the national pace car association for NASCAR. Somehting like that. Anyway, he had so much stuff done to his car and that is what inspired me to get some strobes for my headlights. They looked so cool. He had some in his reverse lights and some in his foglights and headlights and had them doing a zig zag pattern.

I found some cheap strobes on ebay and I am considering buying those. They are made by liteglow and retail for around $90 at best. This website is selling them on ebay for $30. It comes with the controller for the strobes and two xenon bulbs plus you can get two more for $14.

I would probably do a 4 bulb setup since the controller can handle 4. I would like to do two in the reverse lights and two up front. Should I do them in the foglights or the headlights? I was thinking foglights because those don't have to be on at night and would show up better because they wouldn't be competing with the headlights.

If I were considering something like that, I'd try the fogs. They're easier to replace (and far cheaper) if they get screwed up. Make sure you seal the holes very well. Moisture inside the fogs will erode the reflective plating on the reflector assembly. That'* what happened to my stock lights.

How did moisture get inside your lights? I was planning on sealing them up real good anyway. I would probably just use some silicone or something like that. My dad has some black puddy like stuff that I use alot to seal stuff. It is sticky and would hold those lights in good. I think I will try those foglights before the headlights.

There'* a little breather on the back of the reflector housing. It'* designed to let your lights breathe. If you were to seal that up completely, moisture would condense inside, and never be able to drain out. I'm betting at some time my breather either got plugged, or the car was partly submerged up front (something to watch for Drifter!). Not really sure, but when I tried to rinse out the dirt and dust in that light with water, the reflectorized coating came off. That'* when I bought new lights. I've never been happier! These things are great.

Will do Will.. have to look into that now.. as for strobes..just make sure you have the switch inaccessible so people don't flicker it it on by accident and do not use it while on public roads as it'* deemed illegal. Make a separate kills switch to disable the rear ones.. cause the last thing you want is strobing the lights in rush hour while flying pass everyone cause they think you're an undercover ( might help when the car is white too hee hee ).. and the last thing you need is a cop behind you seeing that.. in the front.. you can see who you're comin up to at least.

ya you're right. I will mount the switch in an inconspicuous spot. I will only use it for showing off and never on the road. Too risky!!

I'd like to state my opinion. I used to have red and blue strobes in the headlights (looked just like an undercover cruiser at night) and it was the biggest pain in the arse!

Not so much as installing them, but maintaining them. I sealed those suckers perfectly and they still blew out left and right. I'm not going to try that again. But I'm not going to stop you because they are very cool when they DO work.

Hey what kind of strobe lights did you use? I am going to be using liteglow which is about the same as street glow. They both run about the same pricewise its just I can get liteglow cheaper.

I think they were street glow. I can check into it.

yeah see if you can find out. They supposedly have a special mounting technique that they use that is suposed to keep them sturdy and leak proof.
