I love my car. The more I found out about it, the more it fits what I want. I can run regular gas, and still have plenty of power. Some people have said i'm just liking it cause it'* what I want, but i'm an old fashioned car guy, I don't need all the toys. I just want the things that are usable, and don't detract from the driving. I'd rather have the physical compas on my winshield then a digital one with 8 points. blah blah blah...

93 was the last year without a resonator in the exhaust so they're slightly louder and lower pitched. 93 was the last year of the OBD 1 computer (custom chips start @ 35 bux). it was the first year for Roller rockers, it was the last year for a high flow exhaust on the SE'*. If you're looking at 92-95 and you're willing to sacrafice some power (94-95 SC had higher output then 92/93) or modability (series I isn't nearly as supported as series II) you get a lot of other ease in other areas.

I paid 3900 for mine, a 93 with 106k last year outside of the twin cities. Blue book was 3800. You must be in a good place, a lot of older folks in FL (i used to live in Lakeland)

Find your top 5, and then check them all out, and report back to us You'll probably come to your own conclusion, then we can advise.

It seems 93s, at least the SEs without all that techno-bull (I totally agree with you on all that you said about the tech, BTW, except for a different reason: Electronic gizmo failure is expensive, and I am on limited funds ) get the best of both worlds, so to speak. 94s and up seem less reliable, while the 92s seem like the standard first-year formula, with all the problems that come immediately after a major redesign (like the EGR, or lack thereof, issue) I want reliable, so maybe another 93 is in my future... I wouldn't think your crazy for wanting a 95..... lol.
If your into performance it'* a pretty good year. I think it'* the lightest bodystyle and the lighter engine (series 2). Not to mention all the bolt-ons available for the series 2.

I did have to replace my engine last summer b/c of a rod knock. But i think it'* mainly b/c of my neglect of the car when i first got it.

That was around 95,000. The upper intake showed no signs of wear when it was taken off but i didn't see the lower intake manifold gaskets.

Also, the body parts are pretty cheap if you get into an accident.

Uhm. . . I just looked at mine this morning. Its a '95 intake. Pontiac wants to replace just the gasket.

Oh yeah. . . and that engine cover is a b1tch to get back on. About three times the rubber bumper fell off of the hook and into the engine.

Hmmm, a '93, '94, 0r '95... Well, let the search begin There'* a 95 Bonnie w/ 67000 on it in the paper that'* right near me, and the guy only wants $3k! I should probably go have a look at it... Something must be wrong with it, however, as it has been in there a while. Either that, or the basterd didn't take it out right after he sold it... hmmm... deserves a call.
