I sent a post about my rust bubbles on the rear wheel well a while back. I wanted to fix it myself but since the weather sucks now that'* not possible. I managed to keep the paint from flaking off for over a year. But I went through a touchless carwash to get the salt and sh** off my car, and the pressure has caused the paint to flake off in places and now the rusted metal is exposed. Unless I wash the car myself now, it'* going to get worse, fast. Basically I just wanted to get opinions on whether or not I should wait till spring to let the body shop fix it and replace the metal, or should I have it done now. It can't get much worse and there going to replace it anyway, so should I just wait?
It'* so cold out now that the paint won't dry right and could be a problem, right? Is there any way I could protect the area (besides washing it) from getting a lot of salt and dirt, etc. in it till spring. Any suggestions are appreciated. I would lightly brush it to remove flakes, then apply some rust preventive primer until spring. If you dont like the look, then just throw some paint on it and if it falls off it falls off.
Anything to stop it from rusting through, or further rusting.

Dead on. Maybe even a rust converter or naval jelly. Even just a simple clearcoat will help, and that area will be repainted, anyway.

Ghetto tip:
Wal-mart sells a black rust conversion primer in the tool section of the store. That will stop the embarassment of having "primerzone" and stop the rust from continuing until you can get it done right.

I went to Pepboys to look at some 'rust fixers' till the spring. Not sure what I should use.
What brand is that rust conversion primer? Is it the stuff that says it destroys rust and after a few coats it turns black? I saw something like that at Pepboys but wasn't sure what to get. I just want to stop the rust (if possible) as much as I can and paint over it so it isn't exposed and doesn't look like ****. How fast would paint dry if I touched up the area when it'* 20-30 degrees outside?
I'd basically like to be able to get my car washed without the pressure tearing off more paint. I'd wash it by hand but the water, and my hands, freeze too fast. Thanks for the suggestions.

I think that rust converting primer is from Krylon. It dries to a glossy black finish. As for touching up the paint in sub-30 degree weather - don't try it unless it'* in a garage. Exposed to that weather, the paint will frost over and eventually fall off. At least inside there'* some insulation. Mainly, try to keep it at least 35-40 degrees.

In the garage, pipe the exhaust out the door, turn the car on, heater on full, and open the pass=thru to the trunk. Or use an electric heater INSIDE the trunk for awhile. It'll help a ton, keep the runs away.

I got some naval jelly and some different primer stuff that claims it destroys rust or your money back. Don't have an open garage because my parents cleaned it out for their Corvette. So (outside at 30 degrees, it was dry at least) I got rid of the paint that was flaking off to find the rotting mess underneath Scraped out chunks of rusted metal and used the jelly, which helped get rid of SOME rust down to bare metal. Used the primer last night and it still isn't 100% dry. It turned black but I'm skeptical of how well it worked because of the amount of rust that the naval jelly left. When I can I'll prime it again and paint it if it'* dry out for a few days. Hope it holds up till spring. This weather isn't putting my mind at ease at all though. I wish I had another car for a winter rat. This rust problem is the worst thing I will probably ever have with this car. It'* pissing me the f*** off.
