Lock, but will not unlock

My Doors, will lock but not unlock. I am thinking it would be a relay, but I do not even know where to look. - Todd

Re: Doors Lock but don't Unlock

You are not giving enough specifics for us to work with. For example: You are referring to the electrically operated locks - correct? Also, do the locks open manually but not electronically? Etc. Do the doors ALL do the same thing? What exactly is going on?
I recently had a similar situation in my '93. In my case only one door lock was problematic. It appears to me that all of your door locks are not working right, but I am not sure about that. I recieved much good advice on this forum. This is all in the archives. Do a search on "door locks", "lock", "unlock" , etc. and I bet you will find what you need. After you do that and if you still have questions, give us the specifics and we will help you out!

in mine, it's the solenoid in the door panel itself. i'm guessing it's built up old grease. on a really hot day, it will lock and unlock like champ, but most of the time, it will only lock. sometimes, on colder days, it won't do jack.

sooo, again, i'm thinking it's warn out grease that they pack in the solenoid. as it heats up, it becomes, well, more greasy :) , and allows the solenoid to move freely, but as it cools back down, it hardens up, and prevents the solenoid from doing it's job.

anyway, replacing the solenoid would take care of that. and if it's only the grease, it could prolly be re-greased.
