Limits of 4T60-E?
Does anyone know exactly how much horsepower a recently rebuilt 4T60-E can handle? I would like to but on a set of headers, a ported TB, and 1.90 ratio rocker arms in the summer and I was wondering if this was too much for the tranny. Anyone know when these things go pop?

Maximum HP is 750! That is also after some serious mods to it too! I would say a max of 600hp in upgrades should be fine & still be able to drive it a second time too.

If I remember correctly, the limit for all 4t60es is 280 lb ft. This is why the SC 3800s were factory limited to 280 lb ft, even the engine could easily be designed to make more. There is no stated horspower limit because horsepower is calculated by determining torque and RPM. I don't remember the formula :( , but I'm sure you can easily find it online.

Last dyno i had 181hp and 237 ft/lb at the wheels. I dont know how accurate the torque is but i have been through i valve body, 1 trans rebuild at 60,000 miles and the 2nd trans is on its way out the door at 90,000 miles. With the # of burnouts i have done i am suprised my diff is still holding on. There is one stock 4t60E in the mid 12s on a supercharged grand prix, but his diff as blown once or twice.

Limits of 4T60-E?
Crap. This is kinda what i was expecting. Well the rebuild is still under warranty for about another year. After that I'll probably just end up having it rebuilt agian along w/ my engine, funds permitting.
Thanks.
Thanks.
