Like to modify headlights, need help.

Hi peeps,
I recently purchased a 1993 SSE and need some help with getting low beams to stay on with high beams, as well as the driving lights staying on with high beams. I know I have read somewhere in here regarding another Bonnie owner that had this done with relays but cannot find again. I would appreciate some help. I need details as to how to make this happen

I am also looking for the gearshift indicator light socket. The bulb is not burnt out, and GM want $67.93 for a small socket and 8 inches of wire, sooooooo looking for used item if anybody can help. GM says 93 to 97 are all the same. :D

Would also like some advice, I will be installing mudflaps on my Bonnie and have been told NOT to paint them. My question is what do you think? My car is metalic hunter green with gold trimmings as well as stock gold highlighted rims. I can get the same paint in a spray bomb and paint them myself and gold letter the PONTIAC on the bottom. I think the painted will look way better than the black but have also been told it would look like crap. Regardless of anyones opinion they will be painted, SORRY MY CAR  , opps I mean wifes car  . Just like to know how others have done theirs, if any.

I have asked way to many questions for a VIRGIN  so I'll leave it with you all and check back tommorrow for any responses. I thank you all for any help you provide in advance. :D :)

#2> I do believe someone here has replaced this bulb not too long ago!
#3> I'm not into painting mud flaps myself, sorry!

Welcome to the forum! Nice car! I don't like the painted mudflaps, either....but like you said, it's your car! :P

As far as the indicator socket is conerned, is it broken? I'd go to the junkyard and get one. Probably be about 5 bucks.

As far as the headlights are concerned, anything electrical is possible with a little wire and a relay or two. My schematic isn't detailed enough to help you, but I'm trying to get my hands on a better one. If you make any progress, let us know.

You might also want to browse through the techinfo section on the header bar above. There's some other light mods posted there.

Good to have you here!

Welcome aboard... you'll love this zeinny site... there's a lot of hippies in here....
First off... yes the headlight can be wired to stay on with high beam if you invest in a 1 way relay.. basically when the high beam gets power.. it flics the relay.. and have the other end connect to a full time hot power. Voila... with a 1 way.. having current pushing back from the normal headlight would not do anything to the relay.

As for the mudflaps.. if you're going to paint it.. ensure that the paint is meant for rubber ( or even rubber bumper ) as they tend to flex and over time will crack the paint if the wrong paint is used... sorry at work.. will go into more detail if needed...
Welcome

UPDATE UPDATE

:D Just got back from one of the many local auto wreckers. They had a 93 Bonneville, low and behold I found the part   I also got the go between door mechanism from the backseat to trunk as my closure clip was broken and never stayed shut. Stripped the parts and went to see how much damage they'd charge me for both.

  $10.00 canadian YIPPEE KI AYYYYYY Brought both pieces home and the wire harness works. BUT, :? best of all WIFE IS HAPPY :D

I have a feeling me gonna get lucky tonight  :P :P :P

Thanks for the warm welcome to the club. I have a feeling we gona have some fun :?
Drifter, I'd sure appreciate the more detail as to the relay schematic. :) And trust me when I say detail :? PICTURES EVEN BETTER  LOL

Till next time, keep your headlights bright and your taillights a distant memory  to the rest of the highway users.

P.S. total price of parts from GM would be approx. 225.00

I will send it to you as soon as I have time.. as for pics... can't help you there because I never bothered with that mod ( I can draw you a quick schemetic )... I just modded my headlight for headlight kill switch and my strobe kits on my fog lights. Check Gatherings too since you're in Canada. I know a lot of us Canuckle heads are trying to start Bonneville Clans in our area...

P.S.
Need your email

:? JC Whitney has a relay kit that will do the trick for you. I have used it on my Bonne. relatively cheap. It's really just a relay and different colored wires. If you knew what kind of relay and exactly how to hook it up, you could easily do it yourself.
