Default Tranny Fluid Question

Well, I'm getting ready to do the Tranny Fluid & Filter Change [as per Tech Info ], but I'm wondering about my choice of Tranny Fluid.
I know I should be using a 'Name Brand' Dexron III non-synthetic [she'* got 106K miles], but I saw a Valvoline 'High Milage/75,000+ miles' fluid on the shelf lately, & was wondering what was the difference between it & 'normal' tranny fluid & if it would be a good idea...I don't care if it costs more if it'* going to be the better choice...
Any thoughts/suggestions? :?

not sure about the tanny fluid, but i know that high-mileage oils have more conditioners in it to supposedly help maintain seal life and prevent future leaks from occuring... if its not a big difference in price it might be worth a shot using it, but if its considerably more expensive there is nothing wrong with plain old DEX III

I'd stay with standard name brand Dextron.

Someone said the high mileage formulations ahve something in them to swell the seals to help slow leaks, to keep seals on pistons working well by swelling them back into contact better. I don't need that unless I am putting a bandaid on a transmission.

If you haven't done a filter change before I'd do one this time and then in 10-15K I would do another fluid change without filter. Then you'd have about 80% of the old fluid out and replaced after two changes.

It'* better than doing a flush where "things" may happen after the flush and additives.

Actually, the previous owner [I'm only the second ] did have a tranny flush done @ 78K.
But I'm of the school of thought that says flushing [if not done on a regular basis right from the beginning] can open a Pandora'* Box of problems.
I'm going to change filter/fluid, then change the fluid again after 2-3K miles or my next oil-change [wichever comes first].
I was just wondering if the "High Milage" type of tranny fluid could cause harm... :?

I've used the Valvoline MaxLife transmission fluid in several vehicles without problems. One, my duaghter'* 91 Grand Prix coming on on 250,000. Although I had to add some Seafoam Trans Tune the last week or so to free up what was likely a sticking solenoid

i have all valvoline in my caprice, keeps things oh so fresh and so clean.
