Leaky Washer tank
 

My windsheild fluid is leaking from around the motor where it is inserted into the reservoir. you guys think of any way to fix this other than replacing it?

you need to see where its leaking from...

could just be a loose hose clamp

wow fast reply. Its leaking from around the motor where it is pushed into the reservoir. there is an o ring on the tank and then the motor is pushed into it.

could you please put your year and trim level in your Sig....there were a few different designs of washer fluid tanks over the years

ok i think i fixed my signature problem. but it is a 96 SE

Personally, I'd just lay some clear silicone on it to get it to seal up.

there is a good chance it is merely not seated properly. Pull the pump out and reseat. If that doesn't hekp maybe your local parts store has that rubber seal.

That'd be my plan, too, short of a trip to the yard for a new tank and/or motor

If he needs a new tank there's tons hitting up yards. I might be going today/tomorrow myself.

But if the rubber seal/motor is merely out of place, why spend the money or goop it up?

I've been down this road with my '93 SSEi.
On mine, I was simply hoping it was the seal where the pump fits into the reservoir, but that wasn't the problem on mine. Both pumps leaked internally, in the area where the pump shaft is exposed.

I temporarily used a sealant on the outside of the motor housing, over the open area where the motor shaft is exposed (I placed a piece of rubber or another material over the opening before applying the sealant so the shaft could still spin) but that only stopped the leak for a few months.

I eventually replaced the entire tank with one from a junker, and haven't had a problem since.
