Default power windows? Help! (update! fixed.)

I've had an intermittent fault with my driver'* side rear door for quite a while. It seemed to operate when the weather was cool, but not otherwise.

I figured it was an electrical fault, so, I popped the door panel off this AM, pulled the connector, and checked for current at the connector-motor interface with switch activation from both the switch on the door and the driver'* panel. No current from either switch. .

So, problem solved, right? I clipped the connector, put on some spade clips, checked for continuity (current flowing) and tried the window again.

Now I can hear the motor click, but the window will not raise or lower.

I pulled the motor off, and it spins at what seems to be normal rpm (about 60) off the car.

So, it appears the window raise/lower mechanism itself is jammed.

What next? Any ideas? Also, what'* the set screw (torx) on the gear mechanism atop the door motor for?

Thanks in advance.

Bob.update! fixed!)

Find out whats jamming the window. Also, find out if the motor is weak. It might have enough power to spin itself, but not roll up a window.

Any idea on how to roll the window mechanism up and down without the motor? Looks like a rack gear to me.

Not sure on that one. Last time I did a window motor was on my 95 GA. If I remember, I was able to move the window up and down by hand.

Yeah. This torx screw on the top appears to be the port to add grease to the worm and roller portion. Guess I'll try that, run the motor for a while, and see if that helps.

If not, Guess I'll figure out what to do about a new motor over at GMPartsdirect.

OK, I took out the set screw that is apparently used to lube the worm and roller gear atop the motor. A Zerk (grease) fitting went into it perfectly, I pumped in some fresh grease until it began to show from the seal underneath the gear, then ran the motor for about 2 minutes continuously.

Works perfectly now, and it'* buttoned up.

Thanks to all.
