It's Garb. Let him out.
I get something kinda similar, but when I start the car. I have no idea what it is. I know it's not the power antenna. |
Bet it is on his, though. After two replacements on my power antenna, I gave up and bought the manual one at the dealer. $28, better reception.
Unplug it and see if it goes away. Bet it does. |
the antenna is up and dosent go down? theres no one lockd in the truck, any other ideas?

Just unplug the damned thing and see if it goes away. It's right underneath the antenna mast inside the trunk. It will. |

I should have worded that more clearly. If it is NOT unplugged, it will still try to raise and lower the antenna As I said above, the power antenna isn't worth a plugged nickel. I've been through one, and when the second one failed, just bought the manual one and installed it in 10 minutes. $28 retail at the dealer, better reception. It wasn't a hard decision. |

I love my standard factory non-retracting antenna. I never have to worry about the thing failing. Just unscrew it if you take it into a car wash.

I've replaced the antennas on my 93 and 95 with wrecker power antennas from a 98 and a 99. The 98 antenna was installed in my 93 almost 4 years ago and has been trouble-free.
I open them up, clean them, lube them, and re-seal them before install. They'll outlast the car this way. Neither antenna cost me more than 25 bucks. |
Odd, the power antenna on our Bonneville is working perfect at almost 200k miles. Of course, now that I said that, it will fail tomorrow.
