Crankshaft Position Sensor / Harmonic Balancer
Has any had this problem? :
My cars been acting up lately.....the code reads as the crankshaft position sensor. I eventually got fed up and took it to Canadian Tire (yes i know....). I just couldnt handle the not starting randomly anymore. Anyways, they said the harmonic balancer is seized on the crank shaft, and they didnt have the right puller to remove the harmonic balancer to get at the crankshaft position sensor. Has anyone heard of anything like this happening? I'm going to take the car to a real mechanic tommorow to actually get it fixed.

Having this sensor get flaky can cause problems like you describe. Removing the balancer with out the correct tools is not recommended. So ya, take it to a place that knows what they are doing, or you will need to do it yourself. I'll start a write up on this but it may take a while to finish it. I'm working a few others right now.
