needing some info...
Hey guys my 1995 SSE has a pretty bad tranny leak coming from the bottom of the driver side pan...how do i get the CV Shaft out of the way so i can get the damn pan off?? do i have to take the hub off? if so what size socket is that?? and also i cannot find either gasket for the lower pan or the side pan...i've been told that the gasket goop works just as well as the original rubber gaskets but i wanna make sure its not gonna hurt anything or keep on leaking because this is gonna be a big job to get that side pan off...anywho i'll be waiting for replies!
p.*. if you dont know what you are talking about dont waste my time! thanx!

The pan gasket is on the bottom pan. It'* readily availble at every parts store I've ever visited as part of the service kit. If the original gasket with metal in it is in good shape, reuse it.
The side cover gasket can be found at many places, easiest is probably Rockauto. To get the side cover gasket off, you will nearly need to pull the trans out.
To remove the axle, you follow the procedure you would with almost any axle removal. Sorry I'm short on this part, but your post ticked me off and you can use the search feature to look it up, it has been posted many times.

ok well first off i dont live in usa so your parts store wont be able to help me out...secondly the kit that i bought only comes with a transmission filter, no gasket...and thirdly that didnt even answer my question...im wanting to know how to get the cv axle off and out of my way so that i can fix my problem...what size socket is the main bolt on the hub?? does it need to come off in order to get the cv axle out?? and also will the gasket goop work in place of the gasket that is obviously garbage?? jump off the high horse buddy you wasted my time for free! congratulations!

I didn't like the comment in the first post:

but I gave it a pass. This latest response to Bill takes it out of the acceptable range.
Move to Moderator forum for review and a big byte.

I dunno..I wasn't the nicest to him, but tried a bit. Is he even Canuckian?
On Chady..I just finsihed a little pm convo with him. He'll probably not be pushing 3800 pro as much as he was.

Bill. I thought you more tolerant than you had to be, and always the gentleman even if you have to speak the obvious. The is only one solution that works in these situations. Member Banned.
I will use the last space in the thread to remind Members new and old. This Forum enjoys a lax, casual, and friendly atmosphere. But, I will not have outright rudeness not only to Staff but other members in general. The Gearheads on this Forum are top notch, selected by me, and each have unique knowledge and experience that got them the designation. They are here and spend hours each day trying to help and diagnose problems without being able to examine vehicles. They have an excellent track record. And each does this without pay and only the desire to help others with a like car they love. Any disrespect to members in general or Staff gets the boot. And I have No tolerance level. That is one of the reasons this Forum remains civil, helpful, and friendly.
