92 Bonneville SSEi-----HELP!!
I am hoping that someone might be able to help me out. I just bought this 92 Bonneville SSEi for $2000. It broke down 2 weeks later. I am in Germany and it is difficult to find a garage that can work on an American car. I found a place that works on them but after leaving it there for a month, they could not find the problem. Here it is. While driving, or idling after it is good and warm the engine will stop. I was suspecting that the supercharger may be locking up so I pulled it off, and although worn, it doesn't appear to be locking up. After 10 minutes, it will start up but run very rough, and if I give it gas, it dies. The garage said it had fault codes 32 and 58. I cleared the fault codes and ran the engine. checked for fault codes and there was only 58. Do anyone know what these fault codes mean and/or have any suggestions?

Check your key. Is it dirty? Pay attention to the resistor pellet. Do you have another key you can try? Your car is doing what it'* supposed to do if someone tries to steal it. If your keys are both fine, you may need to look for a broken or frayed wire in your steering colum.
If your keys are suspect, get another made.

No, there'* a 10 minute delay built in. I think if it gets a reading, it'll start, but if it loses it while you're driving, you have 10 minutes before it shuts off. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm not sure about the 10 minute delay, but my '92 sse */c has had code 58 stored almost every time I've checked the error codes, and I've never seen it cause an SES light or cause the engine to stall or quit. And several years ago I hard-wired a resistor to mimic the pellet resistor in the key but code 58 still occurs occasionally. I've read that this has happened to other '92s, too.

The '92 SSEi I am looking at, seemed to run fine, smooth, no noticeable problems, after running for about 15mins or so. Shut it off, started it again after 5 or 10 mins, took it for a test drive. The car seemed great, handle, comfort and all that for about 1 minute, then just as I hit the gas about half way to see if she had pep, she just about stalled, only rpm'd up to 1500, floored it and it wouldn't go above 1500-2000. We pulled over to turn around to go back, but the driveway we pulled into - it wouldn't/didn't have the power to back up, had to push. Then we slowly drove it back. Once in the yard, you give it the gas, it sputters, chokes, real rough idle, even stalled once. But if you gave it the throttle slow and easy, you could rev it up higher than 2000, up to 3000-4000 and motor sounds fine, but soon as you let off, and try it - snap, snap on the throttle, she chokes, sputters, and almost dies. Any ideas? Car sat for about a year to year and a half, apparently, when they parked it, it ran smooth, lots of power and no problems. Is this motor DONE?? Or is it possible it'* something not too major, like a fuel filter/pump not able to keep up with anything more than idle, because it idles fine, or is it something electronic, ie. sensor; relay; control unit? Or should I run and never look back or what? Are the chances better it'* something small, or better that it'* something major?? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

oh here we go again...same prob as my car...cause...tranny fluid temp too high...get another tranny cooler on there...thats exactly what my car was....rmemeber my vids on it...hey when you give it some gas when its warm does it like rev up and down?....

Not really, it just chokes and sputters and only revs as high as 1500-2000 rpms, even if you floor it. But, under the hood, manually controlling the throttle, you can slowly accelerate up to 3000-4000. Driving it, it barely had enough power to get back in the driveway - sputtering, spitting etc. Idles ok, just gasing it sounds like its gonna die/stall.
