Default Blinking check engine light

My dad called me saying his bonne'* check engine light came on and was blinking at him. I've never seen mine do that before, does that mean anything in particular...

I think that means an emissions control problem.

The official FSM terminology is "possible catalyst damaging condition"

Most likely he has a misfire from a bad coil, plug or plug wire.
