JSeabert update
Josh finally got all the parts and tore down his 93 L27 SSE. We found the coolant and oil leaks before getting to the heads, so we didn't go any farther. Coolant was leaking into the intake from a bad upper intake seal, no cracks, thank god! The oil was leaking from the gasket between the ends of the intake and the top of the block....both ends of both seals. That'* why it looked like head leaks. He got it all put back together last night and fired it up. Sheared a strut stud putting his STB back on, but that will be fixed by this afternoon.
I have some pics he took, so I'll try to get some posted soon.

He was using my brand new torque wrench, proper setting at 35 ft/lbs. Stud looks like it might have had a stress fracture already......hard to tell. Drifted the old one out of the flange, and I picked up a grade 8 Metric 8mm bolt and nut for him. The flange would have been a PITA to replace, and it was $60. The bolts cost $0.48 ! I left the parts on his porch when I left for work tonight, so I assume it'* done, and he'* back on the road!
Not bad for a 16-year-old who'* done next to nothing on cars before. Not bad at all. Of course, he had excellent technical advice from his step-dad and an awesome neighbor with a really fast Bonneville.

Depends on where you live! I was actually going to buy that car as a second, but realized he was in the market. The deal went well, and he got it. Doesn't have to buy any tools or books. He doesn't have to post for answers very often, either
