I never had my transmission fluid changed or flushed.

i had the car for about years and never did anything but maybe add a couple of quarts. will i damage it if i had it changed and flushed out?

how many miles on the car?

150K+ i say leave it.

Under i say do it...

i dont think i will ever do ti on a car over 150K unless the trans is acting wired or having problems before i do it.

My trans inmy SE at 175K was fine.. until i changed it.. then it went down hill form there.
Yes it would have died sooner or later but i bet it would have lasted longer then it did.

miiisha35 11-13-2007 10:30 PM

it has 190K

bandit 11-13-2007 11:09 PM

i would say leave it till it dies. if its been that long with no change then its not going to help it now.

miiisha35 11-13-2007 11:26 PM

i guess i will have to do some transmission shoping. the car has plenty of power in colder conditions. when its warm outside and the car ran for like over30 mins, the car doesnt pull as hard.

bandit 11-13-2007 11:28 PM

that may not be the trans. That can be other things causing that also ;)

When was the last time you've done a tune up?

also, get under your car and find your catalytic converter, should be right under where your center console would be. Try to shake it (AFTER IT COOLS DOWN!!!!) or poke it with something, if you hear a rattling, then your cat is bad...

I have a high-flow cat and it was purchased in April of this year, along with a tune up. The cat isnt rattling at all.

Witch type of Plugs, Wires, O2 sensor did you get?

miiisha35 11-14-2007 10:54 PM

AC Delco "NGK" $6 a piece spark plugs, AC Delco 7MM wires and 1 new AC Delco o2 sensor on the exhaust manifold. the one by the cat wasnt changed.

bandit, no pun intended, but I would say that if it still pulls good, get that old junk outta the trans.

If the trans is going to go, it will go with the old oil, or new.

I believe what Badnit meant by that was that with the extra clutch material etc in the fluid currently in the trans it may be working well. Once that extra material is replaced with detergents and fresh fluid there can be a better chance that the worn clutches won't grab as well.
