99 SLE operating temp question
When my 99 SLE has idled for a while and is fairly "warmed up," what should the temp gauge show? I see that the gauge is really weird, so I just don't know what to do with it.
It'* split up into 3 sections. The first is 100-200, and the other two are 200-280. That'* so horrifying! I don't know where that needle is because it never moves past the first 1/3 of the gauge! What a very dumb setup...
So, I have a 180, but I think it'* gone bad, as do most RiceZone thermostats. I'd like to go to a 195, but I want to avoid UIM suckage. I'll see if I can get some pictures tomorrow.

Well, it is nice. I am going to wait for about 5-6 hours before taking pictures. The operating temp doesn't actually get to 200 at all. It looks like it'* at 140 or so when warm.

Once you know what the differential is, you can 'tune' your ECT for the gauge by adding a series or parallel resistor to the circuit, depending on whether you need to raise or drop the indicated temperature on the gauge.
