Pre-mod tune-up ?*.... parts source.... and an AA genius
Put in the Belden Max'* and TR55s. Excellent... I can already see a change. The state of the outgoing plugs and wires was embarassing. I don't know how the car could run. One wire was so rigid, I could almost stand it up against the wall. One plug snapped when I was working the wire cap on it. I wasn't pulling on it, just working the cap loose..
Ordered an O2 sensor, PCV valve, and fuel filter from a place called autopartsgiant.com. All AC Delco for them. If I should be using something else for them, let me know. They had the best aggregate price, 10% off and free shipping. If their customer service is as whacky as their web order process, I'll never see that order. Anybody ever use these guys?
Q?*....
I put the TR55s in with their stock gap, .060. But I have been reading they are better at .055?
I haven't received my Chilton yet...
Is that the O2 sensor sticking straightup from the exhaust behind the engine? If it is, is there any reason I can't just wrench it out? I know there is a tool for it.
Is the fuel filter in the line on the passenger side towards the back? Is there any trick to getting that changed without a gas bath?
I'm looking for a 180* Stant T-stat. Are the ones at NAPA, Stant? They look like it but don't say.
Any comments or info would be appreciated. Thanks.
OT- According to the expert at the desk at Advance Auto... TR55s aren't made anymore. NGKs should NEVER! be used in American cars, only in foreign and motorcycles. The current NGK replacement for the TR55s are about $5 ea.
And I don't think I will be invited back to that store. i have to work on my people skills.

The O2 sensor is that thing you see sticking out of the exhaust. I would definately reccomend getting the O2 wrench.. it made my job much easier, and I've already used it a couple times for friends.
Oh.. about the Chilton'* book.. let me share a story:
At NEBF last year, I was all excited about learning about my car. The guys were mentioning they had "FSM"* for thier cars and I said, hey I have a service manual for mine too! Bill'* response was, Oh, you have your factory service manuals? I replied.. uh I have this haynes book I bought at an auto parts store. His response.. "Go get your little manual and lets take a look at it". So I go and get it and he takes it from me and said, "What we have here is some good tinder for the fire out back."
Moral of this story: Get the FSMs.. The Chiltons and Haynes book leave out alot of details and are just plain wrong in some instances. The FSMs are about 60-100 bucks depending on where you get them from.
Edit: After reading Willwren'* post, I realized my experience with the Chiltons manual was very limited. I had the Haynes manual which was total crap and took other people'* comments to heart about the Chiltons version. My apologies on that mark. I stand by my feelings about the Haynes manual though

CORRECTION:
The Chilton'* (#28200) is a VERY good book, which I use at least twice as often as my Factory Service Manuals on both cars. The Haynes and Clymer manuals are ***-paper.
90% of the owners on this Forum will be VERY well served and satisfied with the Chilton'*, which runs new at under $20.
TR55'* are still made and available for US cars. Gapped at .060 on a non-supercharged bonneville will be fine. SC bons gap them at .055 when they step down in pulley size.
Go to your local parts store and tell them you want the 180 for the stock 195 application. If they don't know how to cross-reference it, go to another store.

Thanks guys for the help..
I knew the AA guy was full of it. I was going to NAPA for the Beldens and they carried the NGKs. I did go to another AA to pick up a Mother'* Powerball for a friend. (They are best price there $19.99) Just for kicks I went through the whole thing with the AA guy there. For some reaon their computer has TR55s as discontined but references another model number. When he brought out the box it said "TR55" all over it.
I trust you guys. You have probably forgotten more than those AA guys know.

I guessw they didn't know that NGK had a little part number change, The TR55 is now stock number 3951 ... Advance had to do a little searching to cross the plug... Funny it still has TR55 on the box along with the above number... LOL...
So far these are the best plugs I have ever used

On the stant thermostat... I think the only difference from 195 to 180 is the last number in the part number. If they look one or two left for right...you'll have the right one. Make sure you pick up rubber and paper gaskets for the thermostat and housing.

And, the 180* Stant 'stat will not say Stant on it (at least mine didn't).
