I might posted this wrong area if so I am sorry. I am thinking of running fully synthenic motor oil in my bonnieville. Is that a wise thing to do. Right now the car has only minor leak were the engine meets the tranny. IT just seeping. I can't even tell when I do the oil change that I have lost any oil all.(3000) I have replace that following gasket on the motor upper intake,value gaskets,pan seal.

For your miles I would stick with dino juice, your seals maybe fine but the benifits of a synthetic oil are long gone.
Just your oil on a regular basis for many more years of service.

Or a half-synthetic blend to see how it goes. I switched over at 80k with no problems.

yea oil is oil just as long as you get a decent brand and do regualr oil changes it will be ok

Not necessarily true. On higher-mileage motors, switching to synthetic CAN cause leaks. Not always, but it'* been known to.

i now use Vavoline Durablend 10-30w

I think i will try to go over to a blend. I know when I switched the caviler over at 60,000 it got quieter ,enigne ran smoother and better fuel milage. Aslo do oill change on 02 impala the i have him running synthenic just because he doesn't like do oil changes at time so I figure it would give add protection it has 120,000. IT doesn't leak and it also madethe fuel mileage improve,quiet down the motor. just fyi that impala has 3400 motor in it. Now I couldn't see me bonnieville motor getting much quieter I can only hear when I have the rpm above 3000 even that is stil quiet. I just want to do every thing in my power to keep that motor run at peak performance. Sone correct my if wrong synthenic motor oil would still protect the motor better then traditon oil. (yes I know it doesn't revese damage of years use), but i still can protect from more use better then traditional oil. The problem ist that fully sythenic has detegent to clean the motor which on old motor like mine can clean the deposit up which sometime helps the motor to not leak. Which most blend oil'* do not

Its true it can cause oil leaks...switched to synthetic on my bonnie...no problems....switched on my wifes caravan....major oil leaks....had to put stop leak in it to calm the flow.....LOL...

Interesting, I've usually switched my vehicles over the fully syn and never had a problem.
