Default Blowing Thermostats?!

Another member sent me this message.

"i seem to be blowing thermostats left n right. i keep changing them n they get stuck in the open position after 2 weeks then have to change it again. any ideas why this happens???"

As you can see he didn't say what car the therms are in. I've never heard of anyone having this problem & the only thing I can think of is really filthy coolant. Any ideas?
