Default I'M SICK OF WINTER!

Seems like I always have problems with my car in the winter mostly. And I have another possible problem now. I started my car this morning and I got the usual light ticking noise from my fuel injector(*). But when I started to drive, I could clearly hear another different, louder, unrelated ticking noise (not the injectors).

The only thing is, I ONLY got this noise when I pressed the gas pedal. When I released the gas, the noise stopped. I tried revving it higher, and after I took my foot off the gas, the ticking sometimes lingered for a few seconds, then stopped. I opened the hood and all I can figure out is the noise is not coming from the engine itself, but from some external part at the front driver side/corner of the engine bay (evap cannister area). Anyone have ANY ideas what the heck this is?

If its not the engine, you got a transaxel around there... the tick gets faster with engine speed, or wheel speed? could have a blownout [hub] bearing.

The ticking didn't increase/decrease with engine speed, it basically stayed the same. Plus it made the ticking noise in 'P' also. I'm confused, and concerned. :?

Valve float or something maybe? Possible engine mount?

How are your wheel bearings.

I'm betting the evap canister solonoid. Disconnect it, and see if the sound goes away.

Thanks Will I'll check on that.

Jason, my wheel bearings are bad, but this is something else.

Check the ABS PMV also. It'* in the same area, and also has solonoids. The evap should be louder, though.

PMV is a black thingy with brake lines coming in and out of it. Follow the tube from the master cylinder reservoir. It'll go to the traction reservior on the PMV (pressure modulator valve assembly). 2 brake lines coming in, 2 going out, with a round pump on one side. Under the airbox.

Does this happen when you first start the car? The ABS runs through a self test. Try disconnecting the connectors and checking again.

The Evap won't cause driveability issues, just emissions.
