93 SSE Arizona Heat, Minnesota Car!
My 93SSE has about 195,000 miles, new water pump, 180 degree thermostat, clean radiator, 75% mixture of coolant, new air filter. I pretty much learn about this car as I go. I try to avoid the mechanic as much as possible. I'm not sure what I should be replacing to try to bring my car down to a 200 degree level. Right now above 80degrees outside, it runs about 220-230. I drive about 80miles a day in my car, and I won't be getting rid of her anytime soon. Any directions to go in?

Personally, I would reduce the coolant mix to 50/50. You might find less is more in the cooling dept there. Also, what weight motor oil are you using? I would stick with 10W-30. And maybe, just maybe, that 180 degree thermo(even if new) ain't what she use to be.

Absolutely. The 75% mix is hurting you, not helping. Flush/replace with 50%.
180 degree thermostat for sure, and drill four 1/16" holes in the rim as well. Make sure both of your fans work on high speed with the AC in Auto.

First of all, welcome to the club. Where do you live?
Also, you need to make sure your gauge is reading properly so you know that you have an issue and your cooling fans fans are operating when commanded.

Having lived in Arizona in the past, I agree with the 50% mix, and if possible, use distilled water. The tap water in Arizona is rich in minerals and sulfates, known also as hard water. You will see a big difference in cooling and life of the coolant. Also, during summer time, you can get away even with a 160 degree thermostat. Also, I suggest you look in the Tech Info section of this site, and do the cooling fan manual switch mod for too.

Thanks for the information, i'm going to flush out my car tomorrow, and the fan mod shouldn't be too bad either. I live in Tempe AZ. Right near Guadalupe
