Jacking car up? What notches?
Hi all
I never jacked my car up because I never needed to change a flat.
Im gonna paint my brake calipers red but where are the front notches the books talking about?
Where do I start jacking up the car from the front?
thanks

Maybe a foot back from the wheel well. It'* not a notch as much as an extra piece of metal that is nothed to esure the jack doesn't slip. They could be bent up like mine (that was a scary moment or two.)

The notches they are talking about are within a foot of the front wheel well. Start at the wheel well and follow it back under the car door. See it? It looks beefed up to hold the extra weight and support the car.

You should use a floor jack if you can borrow one and jack stands.
But sometimes thats not an option so you gotta use 'cranky'.
Directly below the base of the A' pilar, you will be in about 6-8". There is a thin edge of steel for the jacks slot to rest on. Get down and watch the lift, make sure the jack is level or you will twist the metal.
After you remove the tire throw in under the car on the jacks side, still use a jack stand but thats there just in case

I thought you were aiming to use the stock jack only. If you have a better floor jack, I prefer to jack off the center of the subframe up front of the motor. Then put my jackstands where Bill mentioned he jacks from or on the subframe somewhere. That way the car is going no where.
