Question (Its about NOS so read and reply people!!!!!!)
Well, most of you probably don't know me and those who do probably don't post here anymore, but I just wanted to say high again. I was planning to sell my 1999 SLE to get a 1989 pontiac Turbo Grand Prix, but the deal never went though, and so I have just been saving up money to put into my bonny. I have done a few more things and I have it running some good times. I ran it at the track here in albuquerque and my best out of three runs was a 15.67 in hte quarter which with altitiude and wind adjustments the computer at the track said it was comperable to about a 14.5-14.6 at sea level. So I'm pretty happy. My major debate right now is wether I should go with NOS or do super chip and cam????? If any of you have played with either of these Ideas please let me know. THX

you can't chip it and then NOS it (this is a common misconception with people who haven't delt with NOS before). Chiping it advances the timing and if tyou want to actually have an engine left after running a 75 to 100 shot then you need to retard the timing. I could chip it to NOS it (ie. get the chip programed to retard the timing) but when you do this you lose some of your original HP, so I want to either Chip it to advance the timing and perchase a cam or I just want to run a 75 shot and not chip it. ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER???????????????????

I say if you like the way your bonnie is now for local driving.. then NOS it for the track. If you feel the bonnie is laggin in normal driving.. then get the chip and cam.

Yup. I think he still has his Superchip in there. I believe most chips (as well as your stock PCM) will make adjustments to your timing as necessary. Ping sensors are your friend.

My understanding was that almost all chips retarded the timing at least 1^.
Mine basically just made my trans shift quicker and harder, which makes me satisfied for drag. But then again, I havn't taken the chip out and done a run with the NOS. I may try it this weekend.
If I had your car, I would go cam. I'm just gonna blow this sucker up and drop an L67 in someday.
