Default My car dies "randomly" when driving it, too!

Hi, I joined this forum recently. I've followed several posts about Bonnevilles that die while driving them (including http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...=760421#760421). Your expert consensus was "check your battery cables". So that'* what I did. And I think you're right.

Not only is my positive battery cable corroded at the end that meets my alternator, but the insulation is peeled/stripped away and the cable wire is in direct contact with my engine frame - so my alternator is feeding my engine frame more than my battery! This probably explains why my battery has drained itself, and probably also explains why sometimes, while driving, I suddenly lose the juice and the car dies. (Curiously enough, I notice mice droppings around my engine - I guess I don't drive enough, and the car'* parked indoors in a garage. Wacky mice eating my wires?!)

So, this weekend I plan to have my battery recharged, and I also plan to buy a new battery cable and some mouse poison. The cable I need is the positive cable set that goes from my battery to both the starter and alternator. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these cables? Pontiac dealership? Canadian Tire?

I'm in the Plateau area in Montreal.

Thanks for your help!

I Dont know where to buy the cable in your area, but you want to get that mice problem under control. Check your air box too as they may have set up house in there.

Rodents can cause some PITA issues that are cheap enough to fix, but a royal PITA.

Don't know where is the best place for cables, but you should also check the ground cable, especially where it connects to the block behind the starter.

Cheers,
