Help i just brought a 95 bonneville SE

the pervious owners i got the car from just replaced the upper and lower intake..the cars has 133 K miles is there anything i should do to the car like change the coolant ?

What kind of coolant is in it now (orange or green?) and does it look dirty? Check the overflow tank for crap sticing to the inside.

Any Service Records? No.. never is

First and formost

Change the oil or better yet a full service
Service the Transmission
Flush the Cooling System
Drain and flush the power steering pump
Pull the tires and check the brake pads/shoes
Rotate the tires
Get a front end alignment
Check belts, hoses and check for oil leaks

Bonneville Specific:
Check the intake for cracks or leaks (non L67)
If you have one, drain and flush the Supercharger and install clean oil

most of this isn't just Bonnevilles, it's every used car. Very few people keep their cars serviced and some cars never get any service at all.

And while your under the hood, add a 180 thermostat. Keep that engine cool for the future.

the coolant is green should i flush it anyway? and how offen should i flush the coolant because i don't want that intake problem to happen to me,, about servicesing the transmission i heard if u servier one that has not been services before it will mess it up is this true? and what is the benefits of a 180 thermostat ?

How long ago was the intake done? That could preclude a flush. It would have been done then. Is there a 'casting' date or mark on the intake? If it's later than 99, you won't have to worry about that again.

Flushing the trans should run about 80 bucks, and would only be a possible problem if you're having fairly sever problems already. I'd suggest the best route would be to change the filter first, then go get a flush. Or maybe the other way around. Depends on whether it's a reverse flush or not. This can be a huge benefit. Saved my ass a year ago, and I'm going to do it again soon. My shifts are a bit odd lately.

The 180° thermostat is commonly used to prolong the life of the plastic upper on the Vin K. It also tends to keep the intake charge cooler, and possibly extend the life of the other engine internals. There are probably thousands of cars running this thermostat now, with no ill-effects (not only is mine a 180, but it's also got bypass holes drilled in it).

The Intake was done a weekago. SO i should just keep coolant in the overflow jug and change the trans filter? WHat the type/part number is the 180 thermostat? what does the bypass hole for and will an independent shop do it?
