Throttle Body reinstallation Torque!
What does this mean? "twice, in sequence?? I'm assuming the torque is 89 in/lb and not 20 lb/ft.
Throttle body bolts....................20
91-99 (except 95-97 Vin 1 and K).......89 (In/Lbs, twice, in sequence)

I do not have in/lb on my wrench, but I do have conversion formulas...and I figure 7 1/2 ft/lb = 89in/lb...I'll try that...I'm guessing twice in sequence means to tq to 89, 1, 2, and 3 nuts...then repeat to make sure they are set?

I think that we established in this thread that 89 inch lbs is the correct torque.

I think your description of the "in sequence" is accurate, however when I torque things down, I do it at least twice starting at half the torque reading (often 3 times, at 1/3 the reading) and then at least double check to make sure they are torqued down properly. I've been described as anal, however.

Was it established though? Wow, that confused me even more...Bill and Bill say 20 ft/lb...you have also found 89 in/lb...but that'* for 99+ ? It seems like 89 in/lb is ok for the plastic upper people...
Since I have no plastic upper would 20 ft/lb do me fine, or is 89 in/lb actually correct? Those numbers are very different since 7.5 ft/lbs = 89 in/lbs. And 7.5 ft/lbs is almost 3 times less than 20.
OR should I just tighten it as much as I can with a regular ratchet (since Bill found no tq spec in the FSM for the Vin 1)? I have a thin paper gasket and don't want the coolant leaking into the SC or I'm out of the game quick

This is what alldata lists for the 2000 L67
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve to Throttle Body Adapter Bolts 30 Nm
Throttle Body Retaining Nuts or Bolts 10 Nm
10 NM = about 89 inch pounds. I guess you'll have to take it from there on which you feel comfortable with.
Edit - This is the part of the instructions for the supercharger installation....

4. Install the MAP sensor bracket.
5. Install the throttle body to the supercharger.
o Tighten the throttle body bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) .

o Tighten the bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) .

Thanks for the info! I appreciate your help. I'll probably tq to about 10 ft/lb (a little more than 89 in/lb), and see how that is...then go from there. As long as the studs don't break. I'd rather have it a little tighter than not tight enough.

Just don't over-do. Too much can be at least as bad as not enough. Between what Bill Buttermore posted in the referenced thread, the specs listed at one of the sites he posted for the 8mm bolts...

No, we are not dealing with the L36'* plastic intake, we are dealing with the L67 throttle body to supercharger torque settings, and the instruction I quote above is for that from alldata. These are the instructions from the GM servicing DVD....
I'll let you guys go with the 18 to 22 ft lbs...I'll stay with the listed specs.

Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
