Default Found a puddle of oil...

Yup I found a puddle of oil behind the UIM and the alternator, I've been losing maybe 1/2 to 3/4 quart of oil in 3000 miles, is this a bad valvecover gasket? I'll take pics of it.

are you saying that the "puddle" is in the engine bay or on the ground?

It'* puddled up above the valve cover between the UIM and valve cover. I am talking to him on AIM

I suspected a soon to be UIM failure.

Look below the alt, you can see the shimmer or reflection

A bad valve cover gasket will generally leak out of the bottom, not the top. Could be the UIM gasket, or maybe the LIM gasket. It may be seeping its way up the bolts.

Best way to find out is dip the towel in it.. then look at consistency and color.

Here'* my finding, it'* dirty which at first made me think oil but I noticed how far up the towel it traveled, it is not oil because it couldn't have traveled that far so I'm saddened to say it'* coolant

That'* exactly what happened with mine... I ended up replacing both the UIM and LIM gaskets...the LIM wasn't leaking, but was worn very thin in places and would have been next.

Sorry to see you've got it...but darned glad to see you've found it. Have you been losing coolant for long? You're at college, right? Do you have anyone who can do it for you? Is this something we can do at NYBF? If not, I can check with the mechanic that did mine.... he was very fair in his price, knows these engines like the back of his hand, and was quick...I think it was around $425.
