Heater not working
That'* right, I'm stumped, sort of. I'm sure I'll figure it out, but I want to push the gray mater here a bit. Just think, if you figure it out before me, you get bragging rights.
My blower fan is not running. The other day I noticed it was off, then it came on and ran fine. Today it'* off again. Here'* what I have done so far.
Checked the fuse, tested with a DVOM and it'* fine.
Checked for voltage at the fuse, yes
Checked the relays, switched with a different set, no change.
Check the temp probe in the dash and cleaned it.
Pulled the motor out of the car and tested it on the bench, spins fine when 12v is provided.
Auto/manual, no difference.
Running out of options here, what else can I check.

Nothing annoys me more then fixing the problem and not knowing what I did. I decided to hook up my DVOM right to the blower plug and check voltage. I was getting about 1.2v with the fan on manual high. I then turned it down to min setting and I got -4v. I then turned off the HVAC and then turned it back on. I was then getting about -14v. I think I had my probes backwards. I then plugged it back in and it'* working. No idea what I did. I turned it on and off several times before this. Hope it stays working.

That'* what I'm hopping it isn't. A new one is about $450 at rockauto. I'll find a salvage yard one first. If it does fail all together, I may just put a switch on the fan motor to turn it on.

Well, it was working, then it stopped again. I put the volt meter on it and with the fan off in manual, I have about 1.3v, I turn the fan up to max and I get 1.9v. I can feel the heat rising out of the defroster, and the display shows everything it'* doing. I can see it in auto turn the fan up and switch the vents but the fan will not turn on and I have no voltage to speak of. So I decided I better do something. Can't go threw winter with no heat or defrost. So I went to autozone to pick up a switch. And wouldn't you know it. the fan started working when I was half way there. I picked up a switch anyways, I no longer trust the blower. So this is what I did.
I made up a small jumper cable that goes from the blower plug, to the blower. This way I can still run threw the cars controls.
Now if it stops working all I need to do is pop the hood and unplug the positive wire from the plug.
And then plug this wire in that goes to my switch.
Tada, I have a working blower.
