chilump - the hole you'll be looking through is about the size of a nickel, you'll need to remove the glove box (the box itself), and you'll need a flashlight. Once you pull the glove box you'll see a black metal brace...the hole is near the left end of this brace.
Ok. So I looked in the hole and you were right. I saw the pully. Started the car and put the heat at 90. It blowed warm for like 20sec and then started blowing cold. At the time it started blowing cold I saw the arm move. Then I put the heat to 60 and saw the arm move again. I put it back to 90 and it moved once again. Funny thing is when I put it back to 90 the heat came on. So I tried again turning the car off and setting the temp to 90. Stayed warm then got cold set it to 60 watched the arm move then set back to 90 and started blowing warm.
Though it is nice to know that I can get heat maybe if the same procedure works tomorrow would be nice to have it work correctly.
Thx in advace for your help!

I know this is going to sound dumb but it works for me as I had pretty much same issue with my 93,..
When you shut the car off, turn off the heat first...
Then when yopu start it back up push the defroster button first and leave it on and see if it blows cold after the car warms up,if so then push the ECON or heat button and see if that lets it blow hot..
it works for me at least till it warms up and I can pull my glovebox .. :P

Thanks Guys,
This morning I found if i turn the heat to 60 and back up to 90 three times the heat works. Thats fine but it would be nice to have it working. I am somewhat worried as to what will happen in the summer.
Billboost37 is it difficult to replace the accuater? I assume that this is not the same as the gear that I suppose gets cracked and wont move the lever in the glove box?
Thanks!!!

The gear in question is in the actuator. It'* a minor PITA to change it. Here'* a link to instructions. There'* more information there than you need, but you can scroll to the end of the text for specifics on changing the actuator. Read it and you'll know what you have to look forward to.

Murphy'* law dictates that if the actuator is bad, you'll have max HEAT in the summer.

SSE Motorhead. Just so I am on the same page as you. Despite the fact I can look into the whole in the glovebox and see the arm moving was I turn the heat from 60 to 90 I still need to change the entire acuater?
Thanks for the link
I will read the article asap
