Default HUD

Does anybody know how hard it would be to install an HUD in my 94 SE? Or is it not even possible? If it is, do you know the price possibly?

Probably close to $1k with parts from the wrecker. You have to pull the entire dash and replace it. Have you ever seen a GP or Bonneville with one? They have the funny hump on the dash. Lot'* of stuff to change/add, and that'* assuming the wiring is even there already.

We do have a member that installed one on a 87-91, and it worked, but this brings up another issue. He had a 'double' image. You need a special windeshield to prevent this. Another $1k.

I recently had the glass on my car replaced for free. As long as you have comprehensive insurance you can probably get the glass paid for by the insurance company. Anyway, the glass I got would have been about $2500 if I bought it on my own. ouch! Now I know why I pay so much for insurance.

OEM glass only. Your insurance company will know what was stock. You MIGHT be able to fool them, but probably not. I just had mine done the same way, and I have the heated windshield option too. OUCH.

I'm betting on a car that didn't originally have a HUD (SE), they won't put HUD glass in under your insurance.

I was thinking that as well. It would also help if your dad owns his own auto body shop that installs it for you.

Will, what is theat heated glass option? I don't think I have that. Do you have a special button?

Comes on when the defrost is on for the W/*, or it might be when the rear defrost is on? I can't remember. You should have a fuse for it under the dash, and a relay or large fuse.....can't remember.....I think it'* a 50 amp fuse under the relay center cover on the passenger firewall under the hood. If you have fuses in those two locations, you have it.

hello there folks, the Hud into a SE can be done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just got it done last week, i cut a hole in the dash where the hud drops down into (very carfully) and wired it in and mounted the HUD control in the pannel to the left of the steering wheel coloum, whalla 5 hours later the HUD was in and working pefectly, the biggest problem I have is matching color of the new hud trim pannel to the dash (trim pannel tan, dash blue) got the color close but no cigar (too glossy and dark), any questions about my install or pics just post questions here or email me at paintballer777@aol.com,

Neekolas, this is the 2nd REALLY old topic you've dug up on this. Please start a new topic on the subject.

We're very well aware of the possibilities on this topic, as it'* been done several times by both Bonnevilles AND GP'*, from years 87-present.
