Default massive amounts of smoke from engine

This happened after i jumped it today, and It hasn't been driven in two weeks. The smoke came from the front exhaust manifolds, and i shut the car down immediately. I'm hoping it'* just oil that leaked onto the exhause manifold? Has this ever happened to anyone?

It also lost an inch of coolant since i drove it last, but i've had it lose lots of water fast before.

It came from the hood, around the front exhaust manifold. I couldn't tell the color because it was in a parking garage. It took about 5 minutes of idling before it started. I don't have a flashlight at college, so i can't pinpoint an exact location.

"massive" may be overstating it, but it was more than a little steam.

Did it smell like coolant or oil??? Because you're stating that it does loose water quickly?

Yeah you should be able to tell by the smell.

it smelled like oil. does this combined with the lost water point to a head gasket?

I'm gonna go with maybe a head gaket for the collenat loss, but make a bad valve cover gasket for the oil hitting the manifold...I had that problem with my car until i changed mine last weekend.

okay that sounds good to me. if the oil is indeed coming from the valve cover, then i'm not worried about the water loss because its an intermittant thing.
