I can't find it in the FSM, But it'* definalty not sealed now. I cleaned the hell out of it, Got all the dirty out of the LIM and attached hoses, Flushed the cooling system. But now it leaks about a cup a minute from where the Heater Hose hits the LIM. What'* the deal?

I've done alot more page flipping, The pipe I'm having problems with is officially called "PIPE, HEATER INLET WITH SEAL" as referenced on page 6A8-4 #160

In fact I only find it referenced four times:

Page 6A8-15, INTAKE MANIFOLD - COMPLETE - NON SUPERCHARGED, Removal Step 9, "Heater Pipes"
Page 6A8-10, ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT TENSIONER BRACKET - SUPERCHARGED, Removal Step 5, "Heater hoses from pipes and pipes from engine", Installation Step 6, "Heater hose pipes and hoses"
Page 6A8-48, FASTNER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS, "Heater hose fitting to Intake: 15nm, 11 Lb. Ft."

I see no seal. There is a slight bell at the end of the pipe, May require an O-ring.


Anybody have an idea?

The heater pipe on my 94 is sealed with an 0-ring approximately centered in the flat area that slides into the lower intake (might be hard to see as it may be black and have crud around it that hides it). I changed my lower intake gaskets this weekend and I had a problem where the o-ring was swollen and broke as I replaced the pipe (I saw it go in weird and knew I had a problem). That caused a drip of coolant from the pipe when the motor was running. Luckily I had an generic o-ring kit that had an appropriate size o-ring and it did the trick.
If you are really having trouble finding the o-ring I could send you one from my kit, I still have the old, ripped o-ring to match it up with.

I just popped the pipe out to look, There IS an O-ring dip on there! Dude, you kick a$$. Any idea as to the size?

Hmm.. Can't help you much on the size at the moment as I'm at work and the o-rings are home. I had to try 3 different ones from my spares kit until I found one that would let the pipe slip in. The o-ring I used was roughly the size of a dime and the thickness of vermicelli (I know, real precise measurement
If you can wait I can pull out a caliper and measure the original and replacement o-rings but I don't get home until late (12am EST).

Went and grabbed one of those "Help!" kits of o-rings, that'* useless. Looks like I'm going to have to search around and find my spare kit here somewhere.....

Those o-ring kits are a necessity! If I had one of those, my coolant wouldn't be leaking right now. Get the biggest set of Metric and SAE you can find. Generic or not, they will last the same length if left alone.

Found my spares kits, I didn't have one... Went all over town trying to find one, No luck. Finally remembered that hole in the wall NAPA. This guy took one look at the pipe and MADE me an o-ring. Then gave it to me for FREE. That'* service. NAPA ROCKS!!!!
