Hey guys, I just want to tell you about something I think you guys could use. I find with stock headlights, that the fog lights produce more light than the head lights. I splurged and bought myself the silverstar bulbs ($70 for two) and they improved the distance I can see so much better. Just thought you guys would like to try this out!

Good luck getting those silverstars to last very long in your fogs. The 880's are known to die early :( SS headlight bulbs though seem to last well. Did you say $70 for TWO bulbs???

no, they were the headlights I replaced.

My bad, I misread how you stated your first post. Yes, SS's are one of the best bulbs to upgrade to, but I'll say it again...you'd probably waste your money if you ever buy the SS fogs. If you want to upgrade foglights though, there are several choices available. A lot of people get Angel Eyes or Cyberwhite Navigators for direct replacements. I just put in some Blazer projector fogs and love them.

Are the fogs hard to replace????????

I can't remember if you need to modify the stock bracket at all for the Angel Eyes or Cyberwhites, but overall it's a pretty easy job. Someone who has done it could help better. Mine was a little crazier though....still not overly hard.

First, the 880 SS ARE a joke.
I replaced the pair, oh, 3 times, I think.
That might seem stupid, but I didn't think a high quality product would crap out so quickly.
VERY expensive. Finally put the standard type in and they are fine.

The SS headlamps lasted about 2 years until the left one would go back on if you pounded on the glass cover, and then it finally quit working.
I have the SS high beams, but I couldn't use them all the time or I'd blind people driving in front of me.

NOW, the other part of the story... :roll:
97BonnSSE on this forum ( who incidentally has his 97BonnSSE for sale in the FOR SALE section... ) was enlisted to help me change the headlamps to the new SilverStar Ultra model.
I was under the impression that I needed to take out the battery and disassemble the airbox to change the bulbs... :P
Since I was going to clean and recharge the K&N filter and put in a battery post, this seemed like a good idea.
Then, Gary says, "...or we could do THIS!!!"
As I watched him undo the knobs and pull the headlamp assembly forward!!! :shock:
I said, "...yeah, baby! or we could've looked at the manuals I have in the trunk, right?"
He says, "...we don't need no stinking manuals!" :D

I told him I was going to post about this and he said, "...Man, I wouldn't tell everybody how dumb we were!"

I figure, maybe it'll help somebody else know what to do or not to do, so what the heck!
Anyway, go for the standard 880's until Sylvania figures out how to make theirs last longer than 3 months.
