Default Normal Idle RPM? 96 SE

I was wondering what the normal engine RPM should be for a 96 SE with an auto trans.
1. warmed up engine in gear with brakes on
2. warmed up engine in neutral

If it was running to fast...what would be the most likely cause(*)

I'm not sure. I have the same trim/year.
My idle speed is around 750RPM when the car is warm and in D, which I think might be low.
My oil pressure light goes on when it gets that low, but if it'* around 1000 it goes off. So i'd guess that it'* somewhere between 750 and 1000.The only time it'* above 1000 is when it'* cold out, mine starts out at 1500RPM but goes down as it warms up.

If I'm not mistaken it should be about 800 warm, and 1000 or so cold

The only real variables should be AC, tach calibration etc. My tach is off a couple hundred.

I seem to idle a little faster..... warmed up in gear close to 900..just below the 1000..if I move it into Neutral it speeds up to 1000. Would I be wise to check/clean the Idle air control? throttle body and or MAF sensor?

Cleaning things up is a good idea. Just be careful doing it.
