1997 sse wont start -- Fixed
Hello all I'm sure theres alot on this topic and I did a search but with over 100 results I wasnt gonna look at um all
To the issue, last month or so I assumed the battery was dying as it had to be jumped started but worked just fine for a week after that but sense just made a err err err or trr(up to you but the normal sound it would make before it would start and jumping wouldnt work) so today I finaly get a battery to put in clean up the cables(couldnt see any metal on the pos one >_<) get it hooked up lights come on, but it just goes click when I try and turn it over. I assume its the alternator as the bets on the left when looking head on dont move. I'll be calling a local shop Monday to find out whats its gonna take to get it toed to them to get fixed but would like to know if theres anything I could try before then thats easy and in a beginners skill sit?
~edit~
I found in a few posts about taking the boots off the cables at all ends and cleaning and putting them back MIGHT fix this issue so is there an easy way to do this aside from just visually tracing back to where they all go and in what order should I take them off in?

I'm assuming the battery you put in is fully charged. In this case it wouldn't be the alternator all by itself (unless it did something rare like shorting out and draining the battery).
My usual order of suspects:
-all connections to battery, solenoid/starter
-solenoid
-starter (never had to do this on our Bonnevilles, so I don't know if the solenoid and starter are combined or not)

9 times out of 10 it'll be the end at the battery so check those 1st.
How'* your coolant level?
Edit - if the coolant is low then remove all six plugs & see if it turns over.

Glad to hear your going again. Teds More info link is actually a Must Read in my opinion. Check it out when you have time; its important in as far as know what to do when it happens if you can't get around to fixing it first.

I skimmed that as well as a few other things in techinfo ~knocks on wood~ no major issues as of yet with this car it was got used back in 02' I think and this is the only thing aside from a few minor things such as the reverse light on the shifter not working and the little red light on the door both pose no issues to me and if I ever seen the little red R ligth up on the shifter I might freak out anyways :p
Only thing I noticed that I didnt ask was what would be the little black mice turd looking things that were all over in there, would that be deterioration from the hood lining or from a belt or just really rodent turds?

If its been sitting, esp outside, then rodent is probably the correct answer. Look over the wiring carefully when your in there next time. Rodents love to chew on those for some reason.

Congratulations!
On the possible rodents, this is a potential wiring problem too.
Check all over to make sure they haven't chewed up any of the wiring (also in the air box that they haven't been nesting, if you haven't been into the filter yet).
