Just wondering how much a new engine with the supercharger would cost and also what other options do I have

That depends on what happened to yours????? Crate engines are available at several sources. Most auto parts stores can hook you up.

What'* the deal?

Nothing is a matter per se, but it has 258k kilometers on it and has run really rough lately, with none of the go it used to have. Will do you have any other suggestions to get it back to somewhat its old form. I was thinking new engine but maybe a rebuild instead, Im not really sure.

Rat, at 258k, you should be running strong. A full tuneup and a scan might be in order. I can't think of anything major that might be wrong with a simple 'running rough' diagnosis. It could be as simple as a dirty TB.

maybe then Ill do the tune up. The biggest problem lately is I floor it and my supercharger gets the whine going then all of a sudden dies and it seems like something has been cut off like Ill be accelerating hard and then the whine stops suddenly and all power is gone then it will kick in a again, then die again.

Really sounds like something electrical like the ignition to just to cut out like that. Any codes at all in history?

For info...

At any of the shops I worked at the best option for a new engine was to go with either a long block (complete with heads, minus intake, oil pan, accessories) or a short block (without heads) they are priced accordingly. Expect to spend about $2000 or so on a long block (comes with rest of the gaskets as well).

You would have to repack your old engine in the crate (properly and the shipping companies are anal about it) for core. As far as the supercharger, there are rebuild shops such as Canadian Supercharger (they charge about $400 for a rebuild?)

Labour on a long block would run about 10-12 hours max.
