guess that noise

recently, under heavy acceleration the car make kind of a bubbly farting noise, the noise seems to go thru the exhaust but i cant be sure, any ideas?

id start with plugs and wires, then maybe a coil pack, it sounds like you have a misfire going on there, farting maybe another storry,

actually ihavent changed my plugs cine i got the car, what brand is good for the bonne, i heard that osch are no good

Pick up the AC Delco Iridium plugs. Better than platinum and made for our cars. If your local parts store can't see them for your car, have them look up a 95 or 96 Riviera. Same motor.

On your noise. I'd like more information. Did RPM dip? Any change in power for the duration of the noise? Can you duplicate it? Using lower octane gas than usual? Do you drive like Granda?

If you answer yes to Gramma then it was probably the pond in your cat and muffler leaving the building when you stepped on it.

If RPM and performance suffered, then look at spark AND fuel. Depending on where you are, you might have had a litte water in your fuel. I have a 3 day rule of thumb... it gets 3 days to straighten it's A** out before I work on it. Unless obvious problem.

i always use premium, i dont drive slow but i dont accelerate that fast either, the main thing ima try to test today is doing in neutral, see if it happens then or if it just when in motion

BillBoost37 04-01-2005 01:32 PM

We need more info.
1. Does it effect driveability, ie. car slows down..bucks...rockets
2. Does it just make noise and nothing else?
3. Is there a puddle under your tail pipes if it happens and you rev up the motor a little?

If it's only a sound and that's it, I'd say might be catalytic going bad. Mine sounds like a freight train right now. Might have a pulley going bad...but can't hear it over the cat.

NERV 04-01-2005 05:06 PM

It doesnt seem to effect driveability
it's just that noise, no other symptoms
it doesnt do it when the car is still, so only happenw hen car is in motion, probly liquid in the exhaust, im not burning oil or anything, so is this a problem?

guess that noise

Hey, I have the same Noise.. only happens under a load sounds like exhaust leak ? Thought it might be some sort of bypass valve for the s/c ? Bost dosen't get past 8 on the gauge. the power is down slightly.Car runs and idles fine.
