Multiple choice rack and pinion.
While attempting to install inner tie rods, I discovered I have a leaking rack and pinion so that aborted that project and I am going to R&R the leaker. I have discovered multiple choices for racks. Aside from the 2 or 3 port choice, I have found different ones for 15 or 16 inch wheels, 3 turns lock to lock or 3-1/4 turns. Wanting to optimize my choice, aside from the lock to lock difference, what would GM have done to have different steering for 15 or 16'*? My rig had 15'* and I have since gone to 16" wheels packin 225/60r16'*.
And...am I in for a real knuckle buster on this project? I don't think anything could be as tough as the tranny mounts were.

Easiest way to do this is ask the parts place what available codes they show for your year. Like T2V or 3C9, then look at your spare tire cover and you will find one of those codes. That will be the correct rack for your car.
Rack shouldn't be all that bad. Knowing where the column connects, I'd plan to slide it out the left side. Maybe lower the rear of the subframe?
Although everything seems easy because on my car it'* been apart a billion times. (soon to be a billion and one)
